Women's and Gender Studies is happy to announce a presentation on “Female Suffrage in the Americas" by Dr. Stephanie Mitchell, Professor of history at Carthage College.

This event will take place on Zoom Tuesday, April 13, from 2:00-3:15.

Although we know that suffragists throughout the western hemisphere often supported each other in their quest for voting rights, there have been few broadly comparative studies of female suffrage in the Americas. Dr. Mitchell is director of a multi-national project on the history of women's suffrage in the Americas. She has brought together specialists on women's suffrage from countries throughout the western hemisphere to develop a comparative history of the women's vote, work that has received support from the National Endowment of the Humanities.

Please join us for this important transnational consideration of the history of women's suffrage in the Americas and encourage your students to attend.
